Bonkers Over Bags

Reading Rue La La’s post on the style guide to handbags just puts a smile on my face! http://www.ruelala.com/blog/handbags-and-purses/

Every style bag holds a purpose for a different function or event. So without further adieu I present to you my must have bags and what I can’t live without that gets stored inside.

The daily:

Managing HR calls for a bag that can fit the necessities plus some of my business friendly items. The bag that functions as a workbag I try to fit as much in as I used to fit in my childhood rolling backpack (yes I am guilty of being one of those kids that took up the extra space in the halls to roll her books.) Anyway, I look for something stylish that also gives me enough room to store what I need. I love the Celine bags but I feel as though storing too much in these beautiful bags can make them loose shape faster. Chanel’s shopping bag allows me to fit my work essentials while giving me a separate place to put items I want to grab quickly without trying to rummage through my note pads. Any tote, would also serve the work purpose well.

Night Owl:

When it’s time to hit the town I look for a bag that is much smaller but also allows me to fit just what I need for the time being. A clutch would be a perfect going out bag. This Miu Miu bag turns into a clutch by removing the jeweled strap, which you can also wear as a necklace.

Hi I’m Rachel... Born and raised in New Jersey where I received my Master’s Degree in Communications, had my first job experiences, and realized my purpose in life was to help make a difference. In 2013, I moved to New York City where I had dreams of being in the fashion industry. I took a fashion PR workshop and reached out to a speaker I was inspired by for an internship. Elle Communications helped me discover my love for social good brands and fashion with purpose. For a year I was one of Diane von Furstenberg’s assistants which was an experience I will be forever grateful for. Working for a fashion legend I never learned so much in such a short period of time. It helped me grow both professionally and personally immensely. I lost my aunt to lung cancer six years ago and became involved with Free to Breathe a nonprofit organization with a mission to double lung cancer survival by 2022.  They wrote me the most beautiful letter about my involvement since 2011. I am now currently fundraising for this year’s walk and team captain to Deb’s Dreamers.  I have raised over $5000.00 for lung cancer research from 2011-2016. Another organization I feel strongly about is The Pajama Program. A non-profit that offers at-risk children books and pajamas so they can enjoy bedtime. I have been a volunteer reader giving me the opportunity to both read and see the process of when the children receive pajamas and get to take a book home of their choice. The program is amazing and I look forward to participating in the upcoming Pajama Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Continuously trying to find a way I can put my love for social good, fashion, and communications together to make the most impact.
