Celine all Patched Up

So I splurge on a Celine bag a few years ago and tell myself “well it was WAY cheaper than the rest of the leather bags so it’s almost a deal right?” (heh)

Canvas can be stained unlike leather and although that satisfying original price tag seemed like a steal, I was in for a rude awakening. After I was told by the leather repair extraoudinare that my precious canvas Celine just was stuck with it’s stains forever I was devastated. Relax, I am not really that dramatic but I was a little upset. I mean come on was I supposed to throw it away? GET REAL.

Then murika an idea came to me patches are all the rage right now. Gucci (one of my favorites) lives off patches so…. could I possibly save my precious bag by customizing it with patches? Searching Etsy and Amazon I found tons of awesome patches could this work? I tried a pack of removable patches and hey the stains were covered and I got questioned on the street about who does custom Celines? “Do they have an Instagram account” a random lady int he elevator asked me. Well well well… Looks like I might be patching up my Celine for good.

Hi I’m Rachel... Born and raised in New Jersey where I received my Master’s Degree in Communications, had my first job experiences, and realized my purpose in life was to help make a difference. In 2013, I moved to New York City where I had dreams of being in the fashion industry. I took a fashion PR workshop and reached out to a speaker I was inspired by for an internship. Elle Communications helped me discover my love for social good brands and fashion with purpose. For a year I was one of Diane von Furstenberg’s assistants which was an experience I will be forever grateful for. Working for a fashion legend I never learned so much in such a short period of time. It helped me grow both professionally and personally immensely. I lost my aunt to lung cancer six years ago and became involved with Free to Breathe a nonprofit organization with a mission to double lung cancer survival by 2022.  They wrote me the most beautiful letter about my involvement since 2011. I am now currently fundraising for this year’s walk and team captain to Deb’s Dreamers.  I have raised over $5000.00 for lung cancer research from 2011-2016. Another organization I feel strongly about is The Pajama Program. A non-profit that offers at-risk children books and pajamas so they can enjoy bedtime. I have been a volunteer reader giving me the opportunity to both read and see the process of when the children receive pajamas and get to take a book home of their choice. The program is amazing and I look forward to participating in the upcoming Pajama Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Continuously trying to find a way I can put my love for social good, fashion, and communications together to make the most impact.
